Hi all... It has taken me awhile to get connected. My Richie (Ds) is 11 months old today. It has been an amazingly difficult - and easy - journey so far! I have two older children, teenagers, and they were easy babies, but Richie takes the cake. He is so precious and sweet and good tempered. He's not a crier. He gives these cute little fusses, but he's only scream cried a couple of times in his life. I joke that God gives you what you can handle. Ds, definitely. A screaming baby, thank you for having mercy!

I work full time, and one sweet blessing of having a baby with Ds is that I have not missed any of his developmental steps. Everything happens slowly enough that I don't miss anything!

The hardest thing for me to learn so far is not comparing him to other children. First, typically developing babies, and then - other babies with Ds.

It's been a great comfort reading and watching the last week or so. For example, I did not know that Miralax was ubiquitous in the baby Ds world, and got a chuckle from the posting of the recall notice. Miralax is an essential staple in our home!

I could keep going, but if I'm going to tell a long story, I better post it in the "My Story" forum.

What a precious little guy you have! Everyone is different but the comparing thing just slowly stopped as Tiana got older. Now if I do notice the comparing thing coming out it really does not bother me it is almost more of an observation and I don't feel that sad or dreadful feeling.
