The trick here is getting a bunch of avatars to have for people to use. The coding shouldn't be too difficult. I will put this on the list of desirable enhancements.

Just remember:just be careful if you let people pick the avatars to upload/get from other sites. There is a possibilty of viruses.

Excuse my computer illiteracy, but what on earth is an 'avatar'?

Avatars are little pictures or cartoons that you can have appear under your name on each of your posts. If everyone is uing a differnt avatar, you can spot someone's post just by their avatar as you scroll through a list of posts. Look at this thread on another bulletin board for an example:

We now have avatars. You can set your avatar in your profile. They should be kept to 80 pixels by 80 pixels or less.

If you find an avatar you want, save it to your computer (righ click on it, then "save image as" The upload it to photobucket just like you would your other photos. Then go into your profile, and where the avatar space is, enter the 'url" code for the picture.

The part you want to enter will start with http:// and end with .gif or .jpg

That is called a programming bug and when you don't test enough that is what you get.
Count to 10 and then it should work.

The function startsWith() should have been beginsWith(). Not exactly a complicated fix.

I tried to post a picture of William and me from photobucket.com. It kept coming up so HUGE. I resized it and resized it to no avail. Any ideas for this computer illiterate person?
Thank you!
Libby

Yep, it's way too tiny now. Probably when you were resizing you had it the right size at one point but your browser was still showing you the old version. If I resize it now it's just a blur because all the detail has been lost. Can you get the original size one back?
Since you resized it, by the way, the version on "What do we look like" thread is a tiny little picture.
