Hi,

My name is Tina and I just joined this site. I have 6 kids, the newest arrival being Leo, who is five months old. He has DS and is due for surgery for VSD next Monday. I've been reading stuff here all day and its making me much more optimistic about his operation, especially the pictures of about a week after the operation. Thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts and experiences. Hope after next week that someday i'll be in a position to do the same.

Welcome Tina!! Good to have you here and you came to the right place!! While I don't know anything about the heart surgery, there are plenty of people here who do. Prayers that all goes well. We look forward to hearing more about your little ones!!!

Hello and welcome. I too came to this site just before Kait had her open heart surgery. It has been very comforting to know that the other parents here have been there and are willing to share their experiences.

Welcome! I can't wait to see pictures of Leo! What a cute name! My Lucas is almost the same age (4 months). He doesn't have heart issues, but will need surgery this fall on his hands. Hope all goes well for you. Looking forward to hearing more about little Leo.

Hello and welcome!! I will pray for a successful and quick recovery for your little Leo. My son Dylan had his heart surgery when he was 5 months old (AV Canal). Looking forward to hearing more from you and perhaps some pics. of Leo.

Im Fiona, Mam to Sean 20 mths, Best wishes to your new arrival, where are your from - I met a lady in Our ladys hospital for sick children in Crumlin, Ireland and her name was Tina with a DS baby and just wondering is it you as I gave her this website address.

Great to have you on board. Bet Leo's gorgeous. My little boy, Matt had surgery at 6mths, came home after 5 days, and has done great ever since. Where are you from?
Anyway, looking forward to seeing photos of little Leo soon!

Hi Tina and welcome to downsyn!!!!! I only have 4 kids. My youngest, Talitha, has DS and had an AVSD repair at 4 1/2 months. She is now 8 months and doing well. I would love to see pics of Leo and your other kids.

I wll pray all is well for Leo with his operation. I was amazed how quickly Talitha recovered.

Welcome to you and Leo. I am so sorry that Leo will be having surgery. There are a lot of people on here that have been through that, so this is a great place to ask questions that you think of to be prepared. I can't wait to learn more about you and your family. Please keep us updated on the surgery. There are a lot of people on here that will be praying from all over the world.

welcome, we have five children the youngest victoria has ds , we only just found this site but if wonderful, victoria had heart surgery when she was seven mo old and has had three other surgeries, keep your head up its worse on us than it is on them Very Happy

Welcome Tina, Leo and family. I'm Jen mom to Brock who will be a year on Friday. Brock did not have any heart issues, but as you've seen there are so many families on Down syn who have gone through surgeries - I know they will reach out to you. Best of luck!

Hello and welcome to the site. Alexis had heart surgery at almost 4mths old and I didnt find this site until after surgery. You are so lucky to have found this site before hand. I would have done anything to have had this as a support during all that.
I cant wait to see pics of Leo and get to know your family better. I want to see your six angels!!!!!!

Welcome Tina and Leo. We will keep Leo in our prayers for his surgery on Monday. I have seven children of my own, 2 of them have DS and both had open heart surgery. Sam had TOF which was repaired at 5 months of age and Katarina had Complete AV Canal Defect repaired at 3 months of age. You will really notice a difference in him after he heals from the surgery.
