Hello!

My name is Kristen Faulkner and I just met a few of you at the NDSC conference! I heard of all the fun going on here and wanted to join in! Very Happy

I am married to Scott and we have one beautiful 5 year old son, Ethan. We found out after Ethan's birth that he has Down syndrome. We had challenges in California with services, so we moved to North Carolina in 2004 so Ethan could attend the Special Children's School in Winston-Salem. Four months after moving, Ethan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). We are only a month away from completing treatment!!! Very Happy

While we are excited about not having to take chemo anymore, we are nervous too! Chemo is like our security blanket that keeps the cancer away. I am hoping and praying that the feeling of fear will get better with time.

Hi and welcome. We're new to this forum as well. I still have not got my pictures up like I'd want. It's seems as though you all had a great time in Atlanta. I checked out your pics and your little man is precious. I know it seems a little scary, but put Ethans sittuation in God's hands. He will see you through it!

Welcome! Please tell me more about your school system! I am interested in other areas of the country....anywhere has to be cheaper than Boston!

Hi Kristen! Glad you found your way here. It was fun meeting you at the convention. So nice to meet people who know what it's like to have a child going through chemo. Don't have to explain the basics. John's on Decadron and has been mad since I got home. Not fun to come home to but I knew it ahead of time so I was as mentally prepared as I could be. He's sitting on my lap sucking his thumb as I'm typing. How fun that Ethan is almost done. I guess I didn't realize you guys were so close. I think I'll feel the same way as you when we're done, glad to be done but nervous about the cancer. Have a big party and don't look back!

Looking forward to hearing more about you and Ethan!

Kristin and family welcome! I'm Jen mom to Brock who will be one on Friday. I can't imagine going throught the scares of Leukemia - but many on here have - so I'm sure you will find great support during your transition away from chemo.

Kristen, welcome!!! I didn't make it to the conference (to expensive to fly from the Northwest), but it sounds like you had an amazing time. You have a real head start on getting to know everyone here.

I can imagine the mixed emotions on finishing Ethan's treatments. I pray that all goes well and it soon becomes something that is in the past for you.
